Let me ask you something, and I want you to actually sit with it for a second.

Is being an exhausted mom holding you back?

Not just from sleep. From the version of yourself you know is in there. From the mom you want to be. From the career, the relationship, the life you were building before the night wakings became your whole world.

That question is one I think about a lot – because I lived it, and because I watch moms navigate it every single day in my work as a holistic sleep coach.

Mom life is hard. That is just the truth. I always laugh at the saying: taking care of kids isn’t hard. Trying to do literally anything else while taking care of kids – that’s what’s hard. But there is a difference between the normal, beautiful, exhausting weight of parenthood and the grinding, relentless toll of true sleep deprivation. One is manageable. The other is a ceiling on your entire life.

And you deserve to know: there is a way through it.

What Sleep Deprivation Actually Does to You

I’m not talking about one rough night. We all know what a bad night of sleep does – you’re a little edgier, a little less patient, reaching for whatever food is closest, just going through the motions.

Now imagine that’s your baseline. Weeks, months, sometimes years of it.

When you are chronically sleep deprived, you cannot pour into anything. Not your kids. Not your partner. Not your career. Not yourself. You are running on empty and every single thing in your life is feeling the impact of that, even if you’ve stopped noticing how depleted you actually are.

I hear it on almost every explore call I get on with a new family. They start telling me what’s going on – the fighting bedtime, the endless night wakings, the naps that max out at 30 minutes, the total unpredictability of it all. And then somewhere in the middle of the conversation, it comes out: Is this going to get better? This can’t be it for me.

It doesn’t have to be it for you.

What I Know Because I’ve Been on Both Sides

Before I was a sleep coach, I was an exhausted mom.

When my first son was approaching four months old, I hit my breaking point. I was staring down going back to work, running on no sleep, and realizing: nobody can do this but me, and I cannot keep doing this. It wasn’t sustainable. I needed rest. My son needed rest. I needed to know he was going to get the sleep that supports his growth and development – and that I was going to be able to function as a human being again.

I went through a holistic sleep coaching process. My son was sleeping at four months old. He’s turning eight this summer.

What I found on the other side of that changed everything – not just for our nights, but for our whole life. When I knew my son was rested and on a predictable schedule, I had a foundation I could build on. I left corporate America. I built a coaching practice. I expanded into pregnancy support and birth prep. I pursued things I had been craving and dreaming about because I finally had the mental and emotional capacity to pursue them.

I would not have been able to build any of that from a place of chronic exhaustion. Sleep was the foundation. Everything else was built on top of it.

The Myth That Is Keeping You Stuck

Here’s what I see holding so many moms back, and it breaks my heart a little every time.

They know something needs to change. They know they’re exhausted. They know their baby needs more consistent sleep. But they’ve heard the word “sleep training” and it conjures up a specific, scary image: baby alone in a dark room, crying, nobody coming. Cry it out. Ferber. Leave them to figure it out.

And they think: I can’t do that. I won’t do that.

So they stay stuck.

Here’s what I want you to hear: that image is not the whole story, and it is not the only option.

I’ve been coaching families for eight years. I’ve supported somewhere between 600 and 700 families. And I am not a cry it out coach. I do not promise a zero-tears approach – I’m honest with you, because when a baby is learning a brand new skill after months of doing it a different way, some frustration is normal and expected. But I do promise no crying in vain. There is a difference between a baby learning and a baby being abandoned, and that difference is everything.

In my approach, we start at bedtime with you in the room – right there, next to the crib. Depending on your child’s age, I can walk you through verbal coaching, physical touch support. We customize every single piece of the plan to your baby, your family, and your parenting style. Because sleep is holistic. We’re not just picking a method off a shelf and applying it across the board. We are assessing your specific child’s sleep – the awake windows, the sleep pressure, the associations, the developmental stage – and building a plan around all of it.

What Holistic Sleep Coaching Actually Looks Like

I want to share something from a family I recently worked with, because it says it better than I can.

A mom of a nine-month-old reached out after months of not sleeping well. She was at a breaking point. Here’s part of what she shared after we finished her two-week program:

“Anne’s two-week coaching program was not only successful, it provided us with a deep understanding of how baby sleep works to ensure our baby’s independent sleep skills will stick. During the program, she provides real-time guidance, which is essential in the first few days of teaching your baby to sleep. A lot of her insights aren’t covered in sleep training books. Her approach is not cry it out or Ferber method. It is one that is centered around loving and supporting your baby as they learn to sleep. Our only regret is that we didn’t work with Anne sooner. Thank you for giving us our life back.”

Giving us our life back. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard that phrase. I’ve had dads say to me: “Thank you for giving me my wife back.” Because this is not just about nights. It’s about who you get to be when you are finally rested.

I also recently worked with a family of twins – five months old. On night one of coaching, both babies put themselves to sleep in under 15 minutes. On night two, same thing. By night three, one twin slept all the way through. Mom messaged me: “All four of us are happy and well rested.”

Night three.

That is what becomes possible when you have a customized plan, real-time support, and a coach who knows what to look for and why.

What Is Your Exhaustion Actually Costing You?

I want you to ask yourself some honest questions.

What have you put on hold because you’re too tired? What parts of your relationship have quietly suffered? What have you let slide at work because you just don’t have the bandwidth? What version of yourself – the one with energy, patience, drive, presence – has gone quiet?

Sleep deprivation is not just an inconvenience. It compounds. Month after month, it narrows your world and lowers the ceiling on what feels possible. And the longer it goes, the more normal it starts to feel – until you forget there’s another option.

There is another option.

The families who reach out to me are rarely at the beginning of their struggle. Most have tried things. They’ve read the books. They’ve done the tips and the tricks. They’ve downloaded the guides and followed the advice. And they’re still exhausted, wondering what they’re missing.

What they’re often missing is a customized, holistic assessment of their specific child’s sleep – not a generic method, but an actual plan built around their baby. That’s what one-on-one coaching does that no book can replicate. Because your baby isn’t every baby. And what works isn’t always obvious until someone helps you see the full picture.

Sleep Is Figureoutable – For Your Baby and For You

I believe that with every family I work with. I don’t walk into a coaching container with doubt. What I need from you is your commitment and your desire – the why behind why you reached out. The wanting more for your baby, for yourself, for your relationship, for your life.

When you bring that and I bring the education, the plan, and the real-time support? We will have success. I have never doubted that.

And if you’re not ready for a full coaching program yet, that’s okay too. I offer Sleep Insight Audits for families who want a clear assessment of what’s going on with their baby’s sleep and specific, actionable recommendations – without having to commit to anything bigger right away. Sometimes you just need someone to look at the full picture and tell you what they see.

Either way, the path forward starts with one step.

What’s Waiting on the Other Side

I know what’s on the other side of the struggle because I lived it and I’ve watched hundreds of families find their way there.

It’s an evening with your partner after bedtime, instead of collapsing into survival mode. It’s a nap window you can actually count on, so you can plan your day around something other than uncertainty. It’s waking up in the morning and feeling like yourself again – not a shell running on caffeine and sheer willpower.

It’s being present with your kids instead of just getting through the day. It’s the version of you that has something left to give – to your baby, to your relationship, to the things you care about and have been putting on hold.

That version of you is not gone. She’s just rested.
